The official title of the department in Spanish is Secretar\u00eda de Hacienda y Cr\u00e9dito P\u00fablico<\/em>, the Secretariat of the Treasury and Public Credit, commonly referred to as Hacienda. Or it can be referred to by its initials SHCP. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rogelio Ramirez de la O was born in Mexico in 1948.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Readers might be curious about this official’s maternal surname “De la O”, which literally means “from the O” or “of the O”. It appears to derive from the Spanish\/Catalan surname “Lao”, which was eventually transformed to “De la O”. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ramirez de la O studied economics at Mexico’s UNAM, the Universidad Nacional Aut\u00f3noma de M\u00e9xico<\/em> (National Autonomous University of Mexico). It’s currently the 15th biggest university of the world (by enrollment) and the largest in Latin America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
