(See <a href=\"https:\/\/mexiconewsreport.com\/index.php\/2025\/01\/03\/cabinet-profile-rogelio-ramirez-de-la-o-secretary-of-the-treasury\/\">Cabinet Profile: Rogelio Ramirez de la O, Secretary of the Treasury<\/a>). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ramirez de la O was serving as Secretary of the Treasury under previous president AMLO since 2021, and agreed to stay on in the same post in the administration of Claudia Sheinbaum, which began October 1st, 2024. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The official title of the department in Spanish is&nbsp;<em>Secretar\u00eda de Hacienda y Cr\u00e9dito P\u00fablico<\/em>, the Secretariat of the Treasury and Public Credit, commonly referred to as Hacienda. Or it can be referred to by its initials SHCP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The headquarters of the Hacienda department is in the&nbsp;<em>Palacio Nacional<\/em>, which you can see at the top of this page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The head of that bureau\u2019s title is&nbsp;<em>Secretario de Hacienda y Cr\u00e9dito P\u00fablico<\/em>. The U.S. equivalent would be the Secretary of the Treasury. The Mexican official can also be referred to in English as Secretary of Finance or Minister of Finance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On March 7th, Rogelio Ramirez de la O stepped down as Treasury Secretary and has been replaced by Edgar Amador Zamora.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Amador was born in northern Mexico in Monclova, Coahuila.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Amador studied at UNAM (Universidad Nacional Aut\u00f3noma de M\u00e9xico), earning a bachelor&#8217;s in economics.  Then he earned his master&#8217;s in economics at El Colegio de M\u00e9xico (COLMEX).  Both institutions are in Mexico City. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From 2012 to 2018, Amador was Treasury Secretary of Mexico City. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the Claudia Sheinbaum presidential administration Amador was previously serving as Treasury Undersecretary.
