This past April, there was a tragic incident in the northern state of Chihuahua which created a national controversy. As a convoy returned from an anti-cartel operation, an accident killed two Americans and two Mexicans. It turned out that the two Americans were CIA agents. This brought up the question of U.S. intervention. President Claudia Sheinbaum objected that the CIA agents were not authorized to be involved in that operation. On October 17th, Cesar Jauregui Moreno, who was Chihuahua Attorney General when this occurred and who resigned shortly thereafter, was arrested by the state of Chihuahua for illegal exercise of public office. Later, the Mexican federal government added the charge of treason. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the BBC: “Federal prosecutors in Mexico have charged a former state prosecutor with treason for allowing US agents to join a raid on a suspected drugs lab in April without proper authorisation.”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What about Maru Campos, the blonde governor of Chihuahua? Well, on September 19th<\/a>, Governor Campos and President Sheinbaum met at the airport of Ciudad Juarez and discussed the issue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo fui yo, fue mi exfiscal<\/em>\u201d – It wasn’t me, it was my ex Attorney General.” Then she want on to accuse Jauregui of corruption. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It looks suspiciously like Maru Campos is trying to get out of trouble by casting the blame on Jauregui. Both Campos and Jauregui, by the way, belong to the opposition PAN party. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
