World Cup 2026 Over; Spain Wins It

The 2026 World Cup is now over. It ran from June 11th to July 19th.

The World Cup is the international soccer championship in which national teams compete. It’s held every 4 years.

The 2026 World Cup was hosted by three countries: the U.S., Canada and Mexico. It was the first time the World Cup was hosted by 3 countries.

There were 48 national teams competing and 104 games played.

The games were played at 16 venues: 11 in the U.S., 2 in Canada and 3 in Mexico.

The three venues in Mexico were in Mexico City, the Monterrey metro (Guadalupe), and the Guadalajara metro (Zapopan).

The Mexico national team won five games before being defeated and eliminated by the England team on July 5th.

The final game of the World Cup was played on July 19th, at East Rutherford, New Jersey (near New York City).

This final game was between Spain and Argentina. Spain won the game 1-0 in overtime.

Present at the game were U.S. President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, Spanish President Pedro Sanchez and the King of Spain.
